Knutar is a local-first application. Your data stays on your device by default. We don't collect, store, or process your personal information unless you explicitly opt in to optional features.

2. Data Storage

All your thoughts, notes, and graph data are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. We have no access to this data.

• Local storage in your browser (IndexedDB)
• No server-side storage by default
• Optional encryption with your password
• You control all your data

3. Optional Cloud Sync

If you choose to use our optional sync feature, your encrypted vault snapshot is stored on our servers:

• Data is encrypted before leaving your device
• We cannot decrypt your vault data
• Sync keys are anonymous (not linked to identity)
• You can delete synced data anytime

4. Waitlist & Email Collection

When you join our waitlist, we collect:

• Your email address
• Timestamp of signup
• Source (landing page)

We use this information solely to notify you about beta access and product updates. You can unsubscribe anytime.

5. Analytics & Cookies

We use minimal cookies for essential functionality. Optional analytics cookies require your consent via the cookie banner.

• Necessary cookies: Session management, preferences
• Analytics cookies: Usage statistics (opt-in only)
• Marketing cookies: None currently

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Formspree — Email collection (privacy policy: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy)
• Cloudflare Pages — Hosting (privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy)
• Anthropic Claude API — AI features (optional, your API key)

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data (it's in your browser)
• Export your vault data (JSON format)
• Delete your data (clear browser storage)
• Request waitlist removal (contact us)

8. Data Security

• End-to-end encryption available for vaults
• AES-256-GCM encryption standard
• Passwords never stored or transmitted
• HTTPS for all connections

9. Children's Privacy

Knutar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
